The following could be considered an example of stalking:
Sherry and Sandy have been fighting over Tom for months. Sherry is Tom’s current girlfriend, and Sandy was previously Tom’s girlfriend of five years. Sherry and Sandy had never met, until Sandy sent Sherry a message on Facebook. Sandy told sherry to stay away from Tom and that if she didn’t she would be sorry. Sherry block Sandy from sending her messages on Facebook and continued to date Tom. Two weeks later, Sherry was at home when Sandy knocked on her door. When Sherry opened the door, Sandy started screaming “Don’t ever talk to Tom again or I will make you!”. Sherry shuts the door and calls the police. Sandy is later arrested for violating California penal code 646.9.
